small-cake-boxPrint Broker (White Label)

Overview

The successful print broker (un-named) having vast expertise in sourcing production for many different types of collateral, with their own in house design team, didn’t however have experience in packaging. One of their clients with a successful business producing cakes and biscuits, selling from their shop in a popular tourist area approached them for help with a new online proposition.

Objectives

To produce packaging to mail out chocolate brownies to customers ordering from an online shop. The packaging needed to be one piece, stored flat before use, easy to erect, robust enough to be delivered by royal mail without damage to the brownies, look premium and be cost effective. They also needed greaseproof paper to wrap the brownies in prior to putting in the packaging.

Scope of work

The print broker requested Spot On partner them on this project consulting, developing and sourcing the packaging as a complete service. The client was unaware that Spot On were a third party to the operation so all communication and reporting was done to the broker.

Process

Spot On established dimensions and quantities of the brownies to be delivered, checking with average size of letterbox and Royal Mail posting options / restrictions. Optimum size and construction of packaging and greaseproof paper were calculated. We then worked with the print broker on a simple but premium design, in just one colour to keep cost down. Samples were produced and supplied for the client to field test. The print broker was a little sceptical the packaging was the correct dimensions but when the client tested, found that the fit was perfect for keeping everything in place and the posting trial was 100% successful with no damage to the brownies.

Results

The print broker received a full breakdown of cost with justification for the optimum minimum order to unit cost. The packaging was fit for purpose, achieving all the objectives, allowing them to fully satisfy their client.

Objectives

Face The Future wanted a simple device to deliver a thank-you message and free sample to their online customers within dispatched orders. This should also reinforce the “Face The Future” brand further building loyalty.

Scope of work
Come up with a solution that is cost effective, simple, promotes the luxury and values of the brand and can deliver free samples of different sizes and shapes. It should closely align the branding to fit with both the clinic and the online store.

Process

Spot On worked as a consultancy with the in-house on-line design team, as off line collateral, specification and sourcing is not their core expertise. A simple postcard was decided to be the ideal vehicle for this project. The in-house design team produced visuals and Spot On established the specification, gloss laminate on one side to promote the luxury of the products and matt on the reverse to help adhesion of the sample. Spot On then Pre-Flight checked and corrected the artwork while sourcing the print, with a live pre-production sample delivered for final client approval.

Results

Face The Future received very high quality printed collateral that achieved all set criteria. They are delighted with the outcome and have received very positive feedback from their customers.

Comment from Director “Excellent, efficient service from a company that certainly understand print, thank you for all your help Simon”.

voke buttonVoke Consulting Logo

Overview

Voke Consulting was a new start-up company founded by Steve Voke an established consultant in the construction industry. The industry is itself very professional and corporate with many established names and brands, as is the industry they serve.

Objectives

Voke Consulting has strong ethics and values, operating in a very competitive market they want to stand out, be a little different, less corporate but still ultimately professional. Voke Consulting specialises in large corporate projects and delivering savings in not only the building cost but also by recovering cost.

Scope of work

To portray a brand with strong values that competes with established old firms and sets itself apart by being a little different. Brand should be simple and instantly recognisable in the market place. It obviously needs to work on printed collateral and online.

 Process

We started by researching the competition and producing a mood board to use in a Client brainstorm, finding out more about what makes Voke Consulting unique.

Initial designs were produced covering several different routes, giving some choice for Client and getting to know what they like and importantly don’t like.

The presentation to Client resulted in a clear direction with just two routes to develop a little more.

Secondly designs were produced and presented, with a clear favourite. Colour options were then discussed.

The final design was presented and signed off.

 Results

Client has a brand logo that is simple and effective that they really love. It reflects their strength, simplicity and works well digitally and on printed collateral.

Banner Motoscape

Overview

Motoscape is a company that organises a yearly Banger Rally across Europe. Competitors buy a car for £333 or less, turn it into a wacky, eye-catching masterpiece and drive it through some of the greatest roads in Europe. Alternatively they use a classic car that’s 20 years or older.

Objectives

The Motoscape Rally is not just a driving holiday, it’s a great chance to meet lots of new people, raise some money for charity or just have the experience of a lifetime! The Motoscape Rally has been running since 2006 and every year the entrants have always had an incredible time. The trip is consists of challenges while driving across either 8 Countries in 5 Days or 12 Countries in 7 Days finishing in Venice or Prague respectively. In 2013 the teams raised over £75,000 for the charities they selected.

Scope of work

PR is a massive part of the operation and collateral has to work very hard for the organiser, to attract competitors in the first place, for the teams to raise valuable sponsorship before the event and finally on the rally itself to promote the occasion. Outdoor banners where identified as fantastic collateral, being very portable and versatile for all requirements.

Process

We provided design options and sourced third party production of 6 banners for the 5 day trip and 6 banners for the 7 day trip. Once the design had been agreed with client and design locked, we produced full print ready files and supplied for the banner production.

Results

Client was delighted with the finished result and the short turnaround, as we delivered in the 12 banners ahead of schedule, allowing early promotion of the event for team recruitment. Once recruited the teams have also being using the banners for their own sponsorship recruitment.
